New at Ambacht in Beeld Festival: the live Repair Shop!
Over the past few months, we invited people to submit cherished items that needed repair. During the festival, these objects will be restored live by specialized master artisans.
You can witness the restoration of a vintage costume by master seamstress Emma Moerbeek, watch Damien Antunes Duarte of La Malle du Cireur repair a vintage Dior bag, or observe Margot van Os restore a porcelain figurine. Additionally, two unique fountain pens will be repaired by Carlo de Croock.

Van der Linde is a specialist in art supplies and graphic studio materials, established in 1898. It operates both as a retail store and a wholesale distributor, catering to schools, creative centers, professional visual artists, hobbyists, and anyone with creative aspirations.
“During the festival, we want to introduce visitors to our extensive range of products. The selection we present will complement the workshops at the festival. If you’re inspired, you’ll find the materials with us to continue practicing your newly learned skills at home. We’ll also highlight some sustainable product innovations. We will demonstrate water-mixable oil paints and offer a ‘make and take’ activity with Posca markers for the children.”

Take a look at the discovery laboratory where you can use a microscope to examine inscriptions/engravings and impurities in a polished diamond. With a Mohs hardness scale and raw diamond samples, learn from a diamond expert about the diamond material and dive into the world of diamond polishing.
Do you wear silver or gold jewelry? You can have it cleaned for free at the goldsmith’s stand of GASSAN Diamonds, so it sparkles like never before.

The art of polishing raw diamonds has been practiced in Amsterdam for centuries.
Diamond is the hardest material on Earth and can only be worked with another diamond. Using a diamond wheel, a diamond polisher transforms raw crystals into the most brilliant gemstones.
During the Ambacht in Beeld Festival, one of the master diamond polishers of GASSAN Diamonds will provide an exclusive one-on-one masterclass where you will polish your own diamond together.

Görkem Şen is an artist, inventor, composer, multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer, and sound designer. In his quest to find the essence of music, he has created an instrument called the ‘yaybahar,’ which can produce complex sounds in a purely acoustic form, after gaining a thorough understanding of traditional and electronic music elements.
Şen’s desire to explore new techniques and unconventional sounds is a fundamental aspect of his art. He is known for his exploratory and innovative approaches, aimed at pushing the boundaries of musical expression. With his invention, the ‘spring family’ of instruments, he creates entirely new sound textures and melodic structures that go beyond traditional musical forms. Şen’s approach has inspired other artists to seek new forms of musical expression and create their own unique musical instruments.
His invention has been studied worldwide both from a musical perspective and through the lens of physical principles, and is taught at some of the most respected universities.
He has performed more than 40 solo concerts across Europe, America, and Asia.

Using porcelain clay as your primary material, design and make a piece of jewelry where your creativity takes center stage. You can bring your own ideas or get inspired by examples provided during the workshop. The choice is yours.
The workshop begins with an exploration of the available clay types, techniques, tips, and tricks relevant to your design. You will then start working on your piece with individual guidance as needed. After shaping, your work will need to dry and will be fired in the kiln at 1250 degrees Celsius, a process managed by the instructor at her studio in Haarlem. On Saturday, October 5, you can pick up your piece there or opt to have it shipped for an additional cost. If you need haberdasheries to assemble your piece, you can choose and take them with you; these are included in the workshop price.
