When we go through the door, our gaze falls across vanitases of various scales and materials, placed on the floor. Models of these older works and others in the process of being made surround us. Across from us, a monumental drawing of a dog stares at us. Alone in his studio, Ron Mueck works tirelessly. After Still Life: Ron Mueck at Work presented at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in 2013, I’ve made a new film on two works marking a shift in Ron’s work. It’s a film on the creation of two new works, a combination of the artist’s daily work, the magic of the gesture, his extremely high standards and his classical technique at the service of contemporary art.” Gautier Deblonde, 2023.
