Ambacht in Beeld and sustainability go hand in hand: artisans don’t mass-produce, but create handmade products.
The festival aims to raise awareness among visitors that bags from China may be inexpensive, but certainly not the best choice for quality and the environment. Raw materials are precious and should be used sparingly.
An object handmade by a master craftsperson is of high quality, retains its value, and can often be repaired again and again. The object has a story, is often passed on or resold, and therefore contributes to a sustainable society.
This contrasts with mass production and a throwaway society. Furthermore, during the festival, we have a Repair Shop where you can have your own objects restored or repaired for free. This raises public awareness and potentially changes purchasing behavior.
Vegan
Ambacht in Beeld Festival’s F&B offerings are entirely vegan. We provide water taps. Naturally, drinks and food are provided in sustainable materials: glass (to take home), cans, paper, bamboo, or recycled plastic.
Reduce
This year, Ambacht in Beeld will try to minimize waste in the following ways:
Reuse
