During this modular jewellery-making workshop, you will learn from Moniek of Studio Lanterfant how to create your own pair of mix & match earrings or a necklace using sustainable components. You will also get a behind-the-scenes look at how a digital design comes to life in 3D with the help of a laser cutter.
In this 1.5-hour workshop, you will assemble your own piece of jewelry. A laser cutter will be used to cut and engrave clean shapes. Then, details like painted elements, bent metal, beads, and shaped plastic are added and finished by hand. The workshop is suitable for all skill levels; you decide which parts you would like to do yourself. And if your fine motor skills are not quite perfect, Moniek is happy to assist.
Moniek van der Hoorn did not quite find what she was looking for during her search for sustainably made jewelry. As a product designer with a love for illustration, she decided to create it herself. What began as a playful hobby spiralled into something much bigger, and six years ago, the jewelry label Studio Lanterfant was born. By combining digital design with many handcrafted elements, these unique pieces come to life. Using recycled materials and versatile components, the jewelry is consciously and carefully made. And it is exactly this versatility that inspires creativity in the wearer something Moniek hopes to pass on to others.
